MONCTON OFFICE INTERIOR RICOH ROCKETS CLAIM ATLANTIC FEMALE MIDGET CHAMPIONSHIP

Gander, NL – With a 4-1 victory over Metro Boston Pizza the Moncton Office Interior Ricoh Rockets earned their second Atlantic Midget Female Championship in three years.

The Rockets opened the scoring in the first period, with a point shot from Monica Cormier; Becky Bowes added a second period goal, to put the New Brunswick team up by two goals, heading into the final frame.  Metro Boston Pizza came out hard in the third period, and Alex Normore was able to get the Nova Scotia Champions within a goal; however Janik Robichaud put the Rockets back up by two goals, with just over eight minutes remaining and Natalie Cormier added an insurance marker.

Janik Robichaud was the Player of the Game for the Office Interior Rockets, and Emma Crawley was Metro Boston Pizza’s Player of the Game.

With the Championship the Rockets get a birth in the Esso Cup, which is being held April 18th-24th in Regina, SK.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Champion, Western NL Region defeated the Prince Edward Island Champion, Western Wind 4-2 in the Bronze Medal Game.

Kristen Cooze led the way offensively, scoring two goals, and adding an assist, while Megan Pederson had three assists.  Cooze was named Player of the Game for Western NL Region, and Joanna Palmer was the Western Wind Player of the Game.
